comment How to stop “Do you want to scan and fix drive” message in Windows 7?
+1 for the correct answer, though people wanting to do this should be made aware that it will also disable AutoPlay functionality, i.e. only use this if you're happy to lose that.

I hear ya. :-) And yes, if you don't know what it is, you're most likely not on the dev channel. Just wanted to rule out that case. Sorry, don't have any other ideas since it works for me on the same version. You could try it on another systems if you have any, or hope someone else has the same problem and can help.

Sorry, works fine for me on the same version... so I take it you aren't using the dev channel. Do you leave all settings as default after a new install? If you can reproduce this on a plain vanilla version, is there anything "unusual" about your system setup?

comment Why is Opera browser in version 12.16 for Linux and version 22 for Windows?
Actually, Opera and Chrome use a fork of WebKit called Blink.

Glad to hear it's working again... I agree that it's weird, though.

Hmm, how about looking at the "Network" tab of Dragonfly (or Chrome's inspector, etc.) while reloading the page? That should give you some idea of what's taking up the loading time on any given page.

For Opera, have you tried changing the setting of Preferences > Advanced > Browsing > Loading?

Perfect answer - PDF XChange Viewer is free software as requested in the question and does so much more than Acrobat Reader.

Hard to believe that you have to do this in such a roundabout way... it shouldn't be this difficult and counter-intuitive. Thanks Ivo :-)

comment Opera default search engine settings
Have you tried searching for the file "search.ini", or for the text "[Search Engine 1]" within your Opera folder? Sorry, I use Opera 12.x and 20 on Windows 7, and Opera 12 on Linux, both with en-AU in Australian English (my default search engine is google.com.au). No experience with Win 8 (like Vista, I'm skipping that one) or with South African settings, wish I could help more.

@MikeAnthony: whoops, my bad, I assumed you meant the old one. Updated the answer with instructions for Opera 20 (different from how it used to work in Opera 19, so I'm not sure whether it might change again in the next version...).

comment Is it possible to achieve the Opera 12 interface with Firefox or Chrome?
"But a lot of sites don't work any more in Opera 12." - Really? Not being sarcastic - I still use Opera 12 as my main browser both at home and at work (Dragonfly being one of the main reasons besides incomparable customisability), and besides file-drag-and-drop type stuff, I can't think of any that don't work in it. If I do come across something, I right-click and "open with..." another browser, but that's very rare. Opera most certainly hasn't been "discontinued", as you claim. Give the new Opera (Blink) some time, and I'm sure many of the "old" features will come back.

comment getting Opera 19 to open new tabs maximized
I think you mean tabs being in the foreground or background, rather than maximised or minimised. In which case, please see this answer to the same question.
