comment Why do x86 CPUs only use 2 out of 4 rings?
Yeah, I got this impression... :-) I love when someone like you with deep knowledge of something write this kind of answer, that's history of IT, and I love to know it. Your answer remembered me when I was a guy at school, 20 years ago, and I bought the "Intel 80268 programmers reference manual" and then the 386 reference manual. I read a lot about the protection rings... but never actually done anything with them. Just some simple x86 assembler programming... then Turbo Pascal, then C/C++, Java... and finally .Net for the last 13 years :-)

comment Odd Windows Font-Rendering Issue (With Video Demo)
@Jazimov probably there is no solution... I keep cleartype ebabled because I usually work with small fonts, but it's just me. I never noticed the cleartype rendering issue on big fonts before reading your post 2 hours ago (I'm a software developer, and I spend at least 11/12 hours at PC each day... )

@Jazimov monitor detection is made by Windows trough the video card, so the video card driver could surely have an impact about how the monitor is detected by Windows.
