comment Perform a calculation n times and sum the results (without VBA)
Depending on your formula you might be able to rework it as a 'single cell array formula', see office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/… for details.

comment How to route an app outside the VPN/default route?
Take a look at blog.sebastien.raveau.name/2009/04/per-process-routing.html That seems to do exactly what you need.

comment How do I sort lines in numeric order in Notepad++?
Both issues can be fixed by using any other padding character as long as it sorts before 0, a space would do. But nothing in the question suggests this is relevant. Also, sort does record as a macro if you assign a keyboard shortcut to it. I don't know why it works like that, but I've got a working macro here, so it can be done...

I've added the steps, personally I'd use sort -n but if this is part of a common workflow it might make sense to create a macro to do this so you won't have to leave Notepad++

I agree with both of you, the question was specifically about notepad++ though. And recording it into a macro will make it a single step again.

comment PC shutting down after 30 minutes, even when on BIOS screen
It looks like there are two banks of memory in there, pulling one out and trying again might be a useful test (try both separately). Resetting your bios to factory defaults seems useful, there could even be a shutdown timer in there or some standby issue. And pull the plugs going to your case, power, reset etc. A flaky button could also cause issues. Either pull the plug for the power button after turning it on, or turn it on by shorting the two pins connected to the power button with a screwdriver. And grab a stopwatch, see if it's exactly 30 minutes, in that case it's likely a bios issue.

comment Can a proxy server manipulate packets?
But be aware that, just like the envelope, you need to be sure that it's unopened and actually send by the person you think. That's why it's important to check the certificates, if you don't you can't be sure who you're communicating with. Also, it doesn't have to be a proxy, any system on the route between you and the other party, mostly routers, could do the same.

As to 5, turn it on, wait for it to turn itself off, then immediately turn it on again. If it's something thermal it either won't go on or shutdown way quicker. If it stays on for 30 minutes again it's not an heat issue.

How do you define 'shutdown', does the PSU turn itself off, does the standby power turn off as well? And is it after about 30 min, or after exactly 30 minutes?

comment Two Windows in two partition isolated from each other
pqnet is absolutely right, although it depends on what you are trying to defend against. If you're defending against stuff commonly floating around it will be sufficient (or at least help a lot). If you face targeted attacks I wouldn't want to rely on this, but the question doesn't suggest that's the case. Instead of XOSL you could use GRUB to achieve the same, it can change partition types during boot as well.

comment Can a 32-bit OS machine use up all 8GB RAM + 20GB page file?
You can't. A ramdisk still has to be created throught the OS, if the OS can't use the memory you can't create a ramdisk there either. (Unless your bios can create a ramdisk, which is rare).

Actually, the 32bits = 4GB limit was true for operating systems as well before PAE was introduced (back in 1995!). When it comes to memory limits on Windows this is a really interesting read: geoffchappell.com/notes/windows/license/memory.htm With a bit of hacking you can make a 32bits windows use more then 4GB...
