@ekangas this is an implementation of (1). These filters work pretty reliably in well-defined non-changing circumstances, but they require non-trivial processing power and they are hard to get right if the noise is non-stationary. As I said in 2009, a good pair of noise-insulating headphones is usually the simpler and cheaper option. They work great for teleconferencing setups, though.
