adding XP Recovery Console boot item onto another disk That was to come up sooner or later. The XP setup CD doesn't offer it when it is needed--only to delete/overwrite the partition, no Repair Install option either. Still, embedding the Recovery Console into the harddisk as a boot option (independent of CD or USB drives) is its own question. |

test of ICMP block on most Ubuntu hosts: bash, dash, ash, socat, netcat/nc, nmap, fping, arping, mtr, traceroute, netstat, netpipes(faucet hose), curl, wget, no zsh ... |

test of ICMP block Okay, except nmap -PN -T4 -p 80 sgasdfoogle.com || date doesn't execute date as desired; apparently the exit code is still 0 when hostname can't resolve (or reachable?) |

test of ICMP block Good tool, but doesn't seem universal. I would have to deploy on each Ubuntu/cygwin server I have control over. Looking for a more portable way. |

delete only first hit /match with sed In your sed solution, would it still work if "AsometAhingA" was the SECOND or later line, with "A" not happening anywhere prior? |
