comment Normal ISO to UEFI bootable ISO converter?
adding this file to the ISO indeed boots the USB stick however one would need to manually boot the kernel in the stick (which i find inconvenient)

comment Normal ISO to UEFI bootable ISO converter?
If the ISO is UEFI bootable then it is normally prepared like so. Windows 8 isntaller is UEFI bootable. If a live system ISO is NOT UEFI bootable you will have to do a 'legacy boot'.

comment Resetting Windows 8 password
what William is actually saying is the accessibility tool that popups when you click that that icon on the bottom left of the login screen is called "utilman.exe". By renaming cmd.exe to "utilman.exe", when that icon is clicked, command prompt will appear instead and from there you can do 'net user someone *'. The most important part is that the Windows 8 filesystem be read. A windows installer will likely recognize the filesystem. For best results use Windows 8 installer. Stop looking for other 3rd party tools.

comment Change Windows 8.1 password: windows chroot equivalent?
part of the problem is the bios/uefi setup. it doesn't let provide options for legacy boot. it can disable secure boot but only boots uefi bootable usb sticks.

comment Change Windows 8.1 password: windows chroot equivalent?
im afraid there aren't any reset tools available for me at this moment and have to do things in cmd. Otherwise, i will have to try another live ISO that works on UEFI USB3.0

comment VirtualBox: Host-only and NAT conflict?
+1 It works! I disabled the NAT interface for a while, when reenabled it created a route 0.0.0.0 mask 0.0.0.0 10.0.3.2 overriding the previous route with default gateway 10.0.2.1. Tried to delete the latest route and problem came back. So i deleted the 10.0.2.1 route instead and added back the right one. Thanks!!!
