That doesn't preclude the possibility of a fancy vimscript solution that does something to check the argument and determine the case of it, but I don't know if it's possible or how to do that

I guess using <C-s> was a poor choice. I was just testing in GVim since I'm at work, and it worked fine there. Also, thanks for the correction romainl.

Try adding cnoremap <C-S> <cr>/<up> to your vimrc. I think that will do what you're asking.

<C-R> here means control + R at the same time. If that doesn't work, I'm a bit surprised. I think Tom's answer is probably better anyway.
