You might want to see bug 1083233 in bugzilla. I have been having this problem and have documented various attempts to corner when it happens, but it isn't just when adding attachments, even though that seems to trigger it more frequently. Like you mentioned here, it happens kind of randomly doing different things. I can just be typing in a message and it kicks off a hang for 30 seconds. Can it be auto-saving an unsent message and we just thing it's mostly random? Got me.

revised Folder can't be moved here when trying to relocate Appdata\user\Local
Further testing seems to indicate it isn't due to a fully qualified filename over 256 characters, so I wonder if it could be the files that are open and can't be moved because they are in use, so I added those here.

An update: I have some old MKS utilities so I ran a find to recursively print the files and filtered them to all files longer than 230 characters in length (the full path). It mostly amounted to some cache files for various things. Removing those did not resolve the problem. So I am no longer believing this has anything to do with fully qualified names being longer than 256 characters.

comment Why won't my battery charge when plugged into a knockoff AC adapter?
@Bob, that's basically what I've come to the conclusion of myself in my case. Thank you DELL for building in this hardware feature and then making the female socket for the power adapter inferior. Dell should fix this for free, IMO. It's only the most critical function of the laptop... to be able to charge the battery.

comment Why does my laptop see my wireless connection as two connections?
Well, the information above seems to be identical and I've gone in and deleted the network(s) and let it re-find them. But it would still pop up. Recently, I was offered a hardware update for the wireless card through Windows update, so we'll see if it happens again. The update has actually resolved some unreliability with dropped connections.

It's not a software problem because you can boot into the BIOS and see it there. I've upgraded the BIOS to the latest, thinking it would resolve the issue, but the latest BIOS software (A09 I think), does the same thing. While on my friends computer, my adapter and the new one I bought both work fine. Apparently the sockets for these DELL motherboards are notorious for going bad or breaking solder joints and being difficult to replace. Thanks for the suggestion though.

comment What would cause an HP LaserJet P2015 to stop printing despite being “Ready” and online on Windows 7?
Switched USB ports. It's doing the same thing. Also tried restarting the Print Spooler service. Doesn't help. Windows 7 seems to think that the printer is connected and that it's actually printing to the printer. The printer has a solid green light indicating that it's in the ready state. However, nothing is going through. It's only when I power the printer off and then back on that my spooled jobs start printing.

I have upgraded the drivers and I'm getting the same thing. I haven't switched ports, but I will try that. No, I haven't tried switching computers, and you're right, it's not so easy. ;-)
