Alternative for WinMerge in Ubuntu I'll just note that in a pinch, when Meld hasn't been quite up to snuff, I've used WinMerge running under WINE. |

Microsoft Office Annoyances? Oh, I'm not saying the new UI is bad. The situation is that I use to be a fairly heavy MS Office user at a previous job where I was writing lots of documentation - so I got quite familiar with the UI then. Now I am only a sporadic user, so I'm never really getting use to the new UI. I'm sure if I had to use it more then I would adjust a lot quicker - in the meantime, UBit saves me a fair bit of frustration. |

Regex tool for Linux You might find that vim's regexs are not entirely standard. In particular I'm thinking of + which you have to backslash to work as a "one or more" matcher, where in, err, regular regular expressions the backslash would escape it. |

What are the differences between major Linux distributions? Will I notice? I would say openSUSE, which RPM based, could stand as a third major distro. Much better than Fedora IMO, but not wanting to start a flame war. A few other distros such as Arch with their own package management systems are also gaining followings, but perhaps not "major" yet. |

What tools do you use to aggregate your Internet activities? FF gives me the irrits as it does not recognise when someone has their tweets going automatically to facebook and you just end up with duplicate messages all the time. |
