comment Max temperature setting and automatic throttling-down CPU on linux
In fact it's quite reasonable to run the CPU in overdrive at a low duty cycle to get bursty work done faster. Google uses this technique in their data centers.

comment How does IPv6 source address selection work in Linux?
Isn't this more of a serverfault question?

comment Can IP v4 and IP v6 share a single physical Ethernet?
No, there is no reason to run only ipv4 or ipv6 on a network card. The network card does not know anything about ipv4 or ipv6; it just speaks Ethernet. The Ethernet packets carry higher level protocols transparent to the card.

It ignores the duplicate entry.

comment Bluetooth HSP support on Windows XP without third-party drivers
Windows 7 supports it, but it seems like Windows XP does not. I just have to find the driver CD that came with my 99c dongle...

comment How do I prevent a memory card from mounting as read-only in Ubuntu Linux?
In my case, the media was mounted read-only, so not even root could write to it. Modern distributions provide a gui to mount removable media in which case it will be writable by the current user.

It's FAT32 for compatibility with a Sansa Fuze. It looks like my first solution was correct, but I had corrupted the filesystem again by removing the card too soon. I will think about replacing the card, maybe it has some bad blocks.

comment Kill overscan for ATI drivers?
I'm using the latest drivers. The problem is that the driver outputs 1920x1080 but draws the screen on a ~1700x900 rectangle inside that signal. There's a slider inside the Linux control center to control the amount of overscan adjustment but I haven't figured out how to get it to just never do that. It knows the brand of the TV so it's reading something from the HDMI cable.

comment How do I prevent the proprietary Linux ATI driver from detecting my screen's dpi?
That's for the radeon driver. I am using fglrx.

comment How functional/practical is it to use an hdtv as a computer monitor?
VGA-in connections are great, but commonly cannot accept the TV's native resolution. Use HDMI if at all possible.

comment What is a good DTD for 1360x768@60?
Could use a little adjusting, the right side of the image is not picked up by the monitor.

comment How do I stop Ubuntu from hanging due to processes going into 'disk sleep'?
I have a couple of CIFS mounts and a webdav partition. Might be the problem. Can I make these go away when unavailable instead of hanging the system?

This works for our EEE PC and looks noticeably better than 1280x768. Calculated by and inserted into the registry with the DTD Calculator.
