Why doesn't Windows 8 Task Manager report the actual CPU frequency when Virtualisation is turned on? I did install Hyper-V, so I guess it was taking over some API that Task Manager uses? I don't have any application that uses that, such as Android or Windows Phone development kits. |

Windows 8 Task Manager not reporting actual CPU frequency @MartheenCahyaPaulo, you're right, I turned Virtualisation off in the Bios, and now Task Manager shows the correct speeds. |

Windows 8 Task Manager not reporting actual CPU frequency Did some googling, here are two screenshots that show the variation in frequencies under the "Speed" header in Task manager, not the "Marketed" speed: one and two |

Windows 8 Task Manager not reporting actual CPU frequency I know about speedstep and marketed speeds, etc. I'm sure that in the Consumer Preview it was displaying 1.3 GHz in Task Manager, and I assumed it meant that Task Manager had this as a feature. Maybe the Preview had some kind of bug. |

Processor Maximum and Minimum state missing from Power Options I have the same problem, task manager reports 2.53 GHz, but CPU-Z reports 1192 MHz. My windows is a fresh install (but of the windows upgrade). Did the fresh install work for you? |

What is Hybrid Sleep in Windows 7? Note that it probably isn't needed on a laptop, because the battery will protect you from power failures, as long as it is set to hybernate after a time so that the battery isn't exhausted. |
