comment Is it better to use a laptop on battery or on AC power?
@William C - I disagree I answered the question just not directly. Better to keep it plugged in - yes because of brightness. No - because of heat , but how I counteract the heat

comment PC set to Wake On LAN (WOL) continually keeps starting up by itself. Cause? Solution?
That doesn't seem to be the problem as the WOL worked fine for the first few weeks with identical BIOS settings.

comment Strange “New Tab” page corruption
Not an answer to your problem, but perhaps switch to a better browser? Firefox would be my choice and if you really need to see pages as rendered in IE got the IE Tab add-on to allow you to switch

@NSD that's a rather grumpy comment. The person asking the question may well contribute to Open Source in some way

comment Utility to store/cache all web pages and YouTube videos
There are definitely Firefox plug ins that do this for normal browsing. Not sure about Youtube. However not sure what they are called. Have you searched the Mozilla plug ins/add ons web pages and your favourite search engine for an answer? Have you set your cache size high enough? Think the default size is usually only 50MB. I set mine to 500MB.

Why would you want to do this? Why not assign static IP's for your network machines etc?

Too much messing around in Windows to get the info I want. The Windows interface to most system level details is pretty unfriendly

comment Any InstallPad alternatives?
Anyone got any ideas? I found this via Life Hacker: lifehacker.com/5388408/…. But you can't configure the install destination, and the range of apps is limited to what they have chosen. Any ideas please?

comment Beginners detailed guide to customising Miranda IM?
Well, yes and no, this is like asking about firefox plugins. In my experience FF plugins are easy to understand what they do, how to install, and how to configure. For Miranda it is not nearly as clear what they do, how to install them, and how to configure them.
