I am currently employed as an apprentice mechanical engineer. I frequently code in my spare time and have been deeply involved in computing for as long as I can remember (my earliest memories are navigating my full 4 GB hard drive on Windows 95 and thinking, what is all this junk occupying C:\windows\ and taking up room for all my games? Delete!).

I'd like to share my tips and tricks and anything else I've picked up over the years with the StackExchange community, so I look forward to helping!

comment Is MAC compulsary for a NIC?
It's a requirement for Ethernet, so pretty much yes. I doubt you will be able to get your NIC to function without one set.

comment Is hijacking of Facebook sessions possible when having physical access to a computer?
Generally speaking anything that can be done remotely can be done even more easily with local/physical access. If someone can sneak in and modify your system, they could equally just install a keylogger which would be far more convenient for getting access to your Facebook.

comment How to Enable Data Deduplication in Windows 8.1 client
Are you quite sure you want de-duplication? It is not particularly effective in the vast majority of applications and I venture to suggest especially in the case where someone wants to use it on a Windows platform.

comment Commuting with a laptop that is powered on
I had a Dell E6410 which I kid you not loved turning itself on from OFF in my bag. It came out scalding hot. I no longer pack and carry it around as I did back then so I don't know if the problem persists but years on it's fine. I'd suggest laptops are less susceptible to overheating than we think, even if it feels concerning to find it hot to the touch.

Wouldn't it "pro-actively send frames" when it does DHCP discovery at connection to S3?

comment Windows 7/8 Access Point No Authentication/Encryption?
virtualrouter.codeplex.com and mypublicwifi. I do state why they won't work - they both require a key and then implement only the same WPA2 network that netsh sets up.

comment Windows 7/8 Access Point No Authentication/Encryption?
This is for WIndows client connections. I want to emulate an access point on my Windows PC so I can connect my UART-WIFI device to it and then perform packet sniffing on it.
