comment How to check if two DVDs are exactly the same?
define "exactly". Down to molecular level they're never going to be the same...

comment How can an e-mail get lost?
extreme case: the message was delivered to some server in a chain, acknowledged receipt, but that server went down before it could forward it. If you're lucky it comes back up in a few weeks or months and send it on, if you're out of luck it had a harddisk crash and your message is gone forever.

comment If DOS is single-tasking, how was multitasking possible in old version of Windows?
and for the most part, that's still how things work in operating systems to this day. That's why you can run 10 things "at the same time" on a 4 core CPU for example.

Mind that at the time CPUs had no such things as protected mode.

@SVilcans MS DOS was multitasking, but the tasks could not run in parallel. The operating system could schedule tasks, giving each a time slot, but not control multiple CPUs at the same time.

comment Windows 7 says a 8.6 GB file won't fit in 14.7 GB space?
@ascom yay for the Paperclip... Microsoft tried to do that, people hated it (or an extremely vocal group claimed to, making it appear as if there was general dislike across the user community) so Microsoft wisely decided to do away with such things.

comment How can I check the temperature of my CPU in Windows?
sadly the download site now doesn't actually give you the program but a load of malware/adware/crap/junk instead.

comment How do I physically prevent people from unplugging an Ethernet cable?
@DarrelHoffman service? IT departments like that don't do servicing, they replace. So the cable gets cut and a new connector crimped on, which is then glued to the replacement computer the very few times I've seen it happen.
