I did this # cp -R /home/me/.local/share/icons /home/root # rm -Rf /home/me # update-mime-database /usr/share/mime # update-mime-database.real /usr/share/mime Rebooted and logged in as user in XFCE. # cp -R /home/root/icons /home/me/.local/share/icons And the icons are still there in Thunar! So I guess there MUST be some file outside the home folder that is messing up, but this is not logical and I'm not crazy.

Hey Braiam, maybe this will shook you up as much as it did to me. I Just did a test in a VM. I deleted all the files in the user folder, ALL. I did rm -Rf /home/me and then logged back again in XFCE as a user. And guess what, the MS icons still show up in thunar. WTF?

comment bash - execute cmd2 each time cmd1 stdout yields specific string
I know, this is just an example of what works but only once. Dropping the break command isn't good enough, of course I tried it. Some deeper change in the script is needed to be repeated infinitely, but I don't know how to do this.

comment How to add unallocated space to a logical volume? using LVM
thanks, but how the resizing of the partition should be done? erasing it and creating it with a bigger end sector? What are the benefits over method 2? are there any?
