As I move around the site, cleaning up after you, tidying up the mess you leave, you don't notice me. But that's okay. I like it clean. I like it smelling fresh. And that's why I'm the janitor.

Tools in my arsenal:
  - Add kbd shortcut
  - Edit summary options (hacked)
  - Indentation using Tab key
  - Keyboard shortcuts for comments

Rule of thumb for robust source code:
Never assume this line will work as intended when writing the next. Be prepared for surprises.

This is me when I'm working: This is me when I'm working

26MB for $4,995?! IT'S A STEAL!!! 26MB for $4,995?! IT'S A STEAL!!!

comment What is the purpose of this 4 pin cable with 3 wires that came with an old IDE DVD-ROM drive?
I remember those days when you could pop in an Audio CD in the drive and start listening to it rightaway from the drive's headphone jack... Now I have to wait for the computer to boot, then launch a software and hope the software can play the Audio CD.

comment How to change the Windows 98 boot logo?
The last three paras are worth a quote. This was a favorite pastime of techies back in the day, and it's very easy to achieve. I'm sure there are plenty of guides online, and even various programs that do this automatically using supplied images. But if you understand the description in the wiki you can make your own screen in nothing more than MS Paint.

comment Windows 8 language settings don't change the language everywhere
You would also want to change that bottom section to English (language for non-unicode programs).

comment moving to a particular column in an empty line
I mentioned "one-time use case". If you're using it all then sure, leave it turned on. All I'm saying is using a command to insert 70 spaces is quicker if you're just doing it once in a blue moon.

Inserting 70 spaces quickly is better than toggling a setting for a one-time use case.

expounding on wildcard (Jeff acknowledged this in a comment on another answer but I didn't notice it at first); just adding the OK instruction to make it clear (:

It should be something like "the mobile phone" or "the Samsung phone". "Samsung" is not a common noun. (Also note the spelling.)

How is the described passive mode any different from keeping it turned off?

"the samsumg"? Surely there's space for improvement...

comment Microsoft Excel: Moving caret with keyboard in “Edit Formatting Rule” dialog
It was very frustrating for me too, compounded by the facts that it is the default behavior and there is no helpful reminder in the dialog box. I almost posted a duplicate of your question. Thank you, and thanks to SE for its powerful "Similar Questions" feature.

comment Is there any way to prevent a Mac from creating dot underscore files?
It's worth noting that Ross Tulloch (the maker of BlueHarvest) offers a free version called BlueHarvest Lite. It is limited that you have to select and enable the feature for each new removable drive, but once set, it will keep that drive free of the junk. You can find it in the Mac App Store, however I'm not sure if it will work for network drives. You can give it a try.
