As I move around the site, cleaning up after you, tidying up the mess you leave, you don't notice me. But that's okay. I like it clean. I like it smelling fresh. And that's why I'm the janitor.

Tools in my arsenal:
  - Add kbd shortcut
  - Edit summary options (hacked)
  - Indentation using Tab key
  - Keyboard shortcuts for comments

Rule of thumb for robust source code:
Never assume this line will work as intended when writing the next. Be prepared for surprises.

comment Microsoft Excel: Moving caret with keyboard in “Edit Formatting Rule” dialog
It was very frustrating for me too, compounded by the facts that it is the default behavior and there is no helpful reminder in the dialog box. I almost posted a duplicate of your question. Thank you, and thanks to SE for its powerful "Similar Questions" feature.

comment Is there any way to prevent a Mac from creating dot underscore files?
It's worth noting that Ross Tulloch (the maker of BlueHarvest) offers a free version called BlueHarvest Lite. It is limited that you have to select and enable the feature for each new removable drive, but once set, it will keep that drive free of the junk. You can find it in the Mac App Store, however I'm not sure if it will work for network drives. You can give it a try.

comment Warning before closing application
Did you try the app in the first answer in that question? Anyway I think an OS-wide feature to warn when closing is too niche for OS developers to cater to. It's the responsibility of the program developers as they know better when such a warning is useful.

comment Mac: Skype cancel file transfer without starting skype
Windows Skype shows a Cancel button when it is sending a file. Even for tiny files you will still get time to cancel because before the actual file is transferred, (1) the recipient(s) has to accept and choose save location (even in groups). (2) there will be a slight connecting delay after recipient accepts. I find no reason to panic like what you did, unless Mac Skype operates differently.

comment Smaller back button and thinner address bar in Firefox 30
Thanks @Doktoro for pointing it out. But I'm growing to like the look of Australis with Australis Small Icons. Although I mentioned I want a squarish Back button, my main intention was to reclaim the wasted space. The add-on I picked does this very well, and therefore I don't mind the Back button still being round (but I'm glad it's smaller).

Well, not exactly. How does 23.94366197183099% sound to you? :D Yes, measured in pixels. Original: 71 pixels wide. After enabling add-on: 54 pixels wide.

comment Smaller back button and thinner address bar in Firefox 30
FWIW, I tried the Australis Small Icons add-on and I'm happy that the tab bar and address bar are now taking up 24% less space. The Back button is still round, but it's not so bad. Thanks! :)

Neither add-ons seem to change the round Back button to a rectangular one that takes up less space. I don't want rectangular tabs. Thanks though. PS: Don't use code blocks for non-code content. Please use italics, quote marks, etc.

comment Why is the Windows 8 recycle bin using more space than it is allocated?
I'm not sure if the date of deletion takes precedence over file size. Like for example, even if your limit is 10GB, if you delete 30GB very recently all 30GB stays in bin to help any recovery. But if you had 5GB from 1-2 months ago, and you delete 10GB or even 20GB today, the old 5GB is cleared out to make space for the new 10 or 20GB. Will need to research further on Windows Recycle Bin behavior.

That is indeed strange. I wouldn't be surprised if the size was within a small margin of error but this is huge - more than double. Are you sure you have set the limit for the respective drive? Also try deleting the files in Recycle Bin which are just from this drive (see original location in detail view) and see if usage is reduced.

comment Lock an idle Windows session without Screen Saver
This works, but I've not had it working before even though I had the relevant settings set. I had to unset, Apply and set, Apply the settings again to get it to work. Or I haven't noticed it before. BTW, the screen goes black for about 2 seconds before the lock screen is shown. Again BTW, this is a Windows 7 and above feature. Windows Vista and below still requires a screensaver to be set. You can use the "Blank" screensaver if nothing fancy is desired.
