comment What is the unix command to find out what executable file corresponds to a given command?
RHEL6's which RPM (e.g., which-2.19-6.el6.x86_64) puts a startup file in /etc/profile.d/which2.sh. This is read by non-csh shells, including zsh. It aliases which to itself. So for zsh users in particular it overrides breaks the builtin which.

comment Is there still a reason to choose a 10,000 RPM hard drive over an SSD?
You make a good case against SATA port multipliers, but not against SATA disks. Using a 4-port SATA card, or hooking up SATA disks to a SAS controller, will nullify this example.

Try just screwing it in place with a single screw.

comment Why is GNU shred faster than dd when filling a drive with random data?
/dev/urandom is likely plenty fast - the dd block size is almost certianly the issue.

comment What's the logic behind the “W” in Control+W to close a Tab in IE?
I can attest that command-w was used on macs to close the current window back before there was MS windows. "Stolen" might be a strong word, but certainly it's true that windows liberally borrowed from MacOS.

comment Rsync Being Naughty
rsync should never, ever, be updating the modification timestamp of the SOURCE files. But if it finds updated timestamps on the source, it will surely update them to the target.

comment Change the Login Shell of Mac OS X Lion from bash to zsh
If nothing else, you can always modify the .bashrc to find and exec zsh. if [ -x /usr/local/bin/zsh ] ; then exec /usr/local/bin/zsh fi. Hint, when modifying shell startup scripts, make sure to keep a shell running and start up a new one in another window - if you break it you still have an easy place to fix it.

comment How to access bridged Mac from behind the bridge?
If you are really creating an ethernet bridge (which it looks like you are), then routes and netmasks are not the answer. Ethernet works at OSI layer 2 - routes and netmasks are at the ip layer, which is OSI layer 3. -- as to what the actual problem is, not sure, but it's likely a bug in the MacOS networking stack. If one of the ethernets is wifi, note that the original article you mention says it is not reliable on wifi.
