comment Change the Login Shell of Mac OS X Lion from bash to zsh
If nothing else, you can always modify the .bashrc to find and exec zsh. if [ -x /usr/local/bin/zsh ] ; then exec /usr/local/bin/zsh fi. Hint, when modifying shell startup scripts, make sure to keep a shell running and start up a new one in another window - if you break it you still have an easy place to fix it.

comment How to access bridged Mac from behind the bridge?
If you are really creating an ethernet bridge (which it looks like you are), then routes and netmasks are not the answer. Ethernet works at OSI layer 2 - routes and netmasks are at the ip layer, which is OSI layer 3. -- as to what the actual problem is, not sure, but it's likely a bug in the MacOS networking stack. If one of the ethernets is wifi, note that the original article you mention says it is not reliable on wifi.

comment ffmpeg combine separate video and audio of different lengths
Yeah - I went with ffmpeg for the answer because it's a lowest common denominator. Lot of the time people seem to have found a windows ffmpeg binary somewhere and have nothing else.

comment Dell LCD displays don't sleep when disconnected
I had a similar problem with a different dell monitor recently. It was fixed by a "factory reset" in the configuration.

based on your other question, i have to wonder if you are using the -ss 5 option when you didn't mean to. You might try coyping it out to a WAV first, maybe there is something weird with the ogg or avi muxers.

hope this helps. Also, be aware that you need to be aware of both network paths - you might take a different return path than your sending path. The simplest way to do this would be to traceroute in both directions, assuming you can log in to a host on the far end to run traceroute.
