comment Ubuntu: Take actions when system temperature gets too high
I don't see a shutdown temp in the BIOS. However even if it were there, I want the OS to cleanly shut down or suspend so I don't lose work.

comment How to share an external USB drive over network in OS X?
@Török: Hm. I'm not sure. When I connect to a Mac as an admin, the shares I see are all volumes including USB drives, not folders.

@Török: When you say "In Finder" do you mean in the Finder's "Connect to Server" dialog?

comment Difference between .app applications and files in /usr/bin?
Just a note to add here. In the Finder you can see what's inside an Application Bundle (or any bundle) by right clicking on its icon and selecting "Show Package Contents" from the context menu.

comment How to share an external USB drive over network in OS X?
@Török: When your users choose "Go > Connect to server" in the Finder, and enter the address of the server with the USB drives and connect, are they not in the lists of shares? Are the users' accounts admin accounts or normal accounts on the server?

comment Where is custom icon information stored in Mac OS X Snow Leopard?
@Chris is correct: The file appears to be empty because all the data for an Icon\r file is in the Mac OS Resource fork. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resource_fork

@Török: What happens when you try? I have a number of external USB drives and built in File Sharing is able to share them across my LAN...

comment Windows RAM Test Program
@Ngu Soon Hui: Listen to @CJM. You have to reboot to test all your RAM. Run a few (or even 5 or 6) passes of MemTest86+ overnight to thoroughly test your RAM. It's worth the minor "hassle" of rebooting. I do this every time i install new RAM.

comment Why every OS still can't resume file transferring?
@Cawas: Diago made this CW at Feb 18 at 3:04. I would guess he did so because there's no "right" answer. You're asking something that's more of a discussion, which means it should be Community Wiki. You can still start a bounty to get more answers, but up/downvotes here now have no effect on posters' rep.

comment Why doesn't mail that I send from Mail.app on my mac show up on my iPhone's Sent Mail when using gmail?
@Mike: @Kio is right. Both your phone and your mac should store sent mail on the server, and that's how they'll stay in sync. Also, don't store them in your inbox, store them in "Sent" as Kio described. ("Use this mailbox for > Sent)
