comment File Sync Solution for Batch Processing (ETL)
Have you looked into ETL tools to manage this process? e.g., Pentaho Data Integration or equiv + some basic scripts?

I am not familiar using these tools, but Apple has been changing up their AFP/NFS/SMB protocols in Lion. Not sure if they changed stuff in 10.6 though, but just a heads up. If these tools use kerberos or something similar, each system clock will need to be within a few minutes of each other as well.

comment How do I change the default version of a unix executable?
To add to Daniel's answer: MacPort's should have appended an export statement in your .profile or .bash_profile-- It will look like this export PATH=/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:$PATH If that line is not in there, add it and restart terminal. You can also type echo $PATH to see what is currently set in your shell.

comment How to have sendmail write server IP in headers
It's good practice to create an IN TXT and IN SPF record for each domain (e.g. company.com, mail.company.com, etc)

comment How to have sendmail write server IP in headers
Add an SPF for each domain that will be sending mail on your behalf. The process is the receiving mail server checks the ip address of the sending server, does a reverse lookup, looks for SPF/TXT records that states the sending ip address or domain is authorized to send the email. An example bind entry may be:@ IN TXT "v=spf1 ip4:192.200.20.0/24 ip4:74.200.200.0/24 include:support.zendesk.com -all" and @ IN SPF "v=spf1 ip4:192.200.20.0/24 ip4:74.200.200.0/24 include:support.zendesk.com -all" This would allow two subnets to send mail as well as zendesk.
