comment What UnRar utilities are available for Mac OS X?
Unrelated comment - everyone uses zip or tar+compress/gzip/bzip, so why do i occasionally stumble on these oddballs who use this obscure RAR format?

comment What's an efficient way to change my 200+ account passwords?
@TorbenGundtofte-Bruun SuperGenPass appears to use a technique I did manually years ago before I had a keychain: I would take the web site name and run a secret transform in my head to create my password. This abruptly bit me when a site I bought stuff from got bought by a different site (thereby changing its name).

And then any time any of those sites makes any kind of change to the page in question your script will likely break... :-(

comment What should I do about the Heartbleed bug for the sites I run?
This assumes your system uses apt-get as your package manager. The question does not suggest this is necessarily the case.

comment getting equal http performance with world visible address versus local IP address
By the way, I assume the www-public is put there in case you want to access from the outside. This seems to assume that 198.51.100.20 I static; what if this is not the case? Or to put it a more useful way, is there some way to set up a binding, e.g. old.myhost.com such that it goes to whatever address myhost.com would have resolved to before implementing the new lookup. (I still want a way to access myhost.com from a remote location even though normally I want it to redirect to a local machine)

comment Can you grab any IP address on the Internet?
Speaking of being confused by signs, I don't know if the U.K. is like this, but in the U.S. it isn't uncommon to have a sign prior to turning onto a highway advertising a city hundreds of miles away. When I was a kid I found this confusing, as one might be in Scotland and getting on the highway expecting London to be the next town over...

comment How can I run Dropbox on Mac OS X Mountain Lion without logging in?
I know it's possible and done, but I would rather not keep lots of image files in version control.

comment How to stitch planar images?
The questions this one supposedly duplicates say nothing about planar stitching, nor did I find anything in the answers to them that make me think this question should have been closed.

One of them is. Well the other is too if you ignore reverse proxies...

Thanks a lot, that looks very thorough; I'll try it out when I get back to my desktop Monday.

@Ron Strangely enough of the two NATs I tested, the newer one has a larger performance difference, but that may be because the LAN is gigabit.
