Are you sure you didn't overwrite the Windows partition? Also install grub to a volume boot record and use EasyBCD to add it to BCD next time you attempt this.

@martineau exFAT won't overcome any limitation at 1GB. The maximum file size supported by FAT32 is ~4GB.

The windows console is exceptionally slow when it comes to flooding the console. It also cause significant GUI lag that might not allow you to kill it with task manager. Note that Ctrl-C or Ctrl-Break won't work because of the data that's already out.
