comment Terminal: prefix previous command?
That's not what !sudo does. The event designator !sudo will execute the last command that began with sudo. You're looking for sudo !!—the !! designator expands to the previous command.

@MattSteelblade Perfect! Setting that to "Smaller (100%)" fixed everything. Thanks very much. If you write this as an answer I'll accept it to close the question.

@MattSteelblade This is a 14-inch 1920×1080 display, so I'd estimate about 157.

comment Why are special characters such as “carriage return” represented as “^M”?
@barlop You can do ^I for a tab in standard bash: type ls ~/^I^I and you should see all the folders in your home directory.

comment Missing Dock Icons OSX Mavericks
Whoa - think before you modify that mv command to rm! The mv would have moved the file to a backup on your desktop, like you said, but the way you have it written, rm would try to remove (1) the original file and (2) your desktop! In this case it will fail because desktop is a folder and you didn't specify rm -rf. In general, however, try to make sure you fully understand a command before modifying and/or executing it.

@Nikolay yes, it was a joke, as is the website. See their Github README: "It's mostly about the enterprise, cloud, *-as-a-Service and criticism on it." (emphasis mine)

I always debug Windows problems in Linux. Not sure if it'll help, but it usually at least clarifies the issue.
