About

I'm a professional .NET developer and researcher, and I'm looking currently to either start a coding research agency, or be adopted by one!

I am eager to start working either for myself or for a larger entity that would be eager to invest in my many and varied ideas. Especially one that values the principles of research and growth, rather than a safe but 'static' product life-cycle. That said, I am open to most any approach as long as the project is fascinating, and most importantly, Ethical!

Due to a number of issues, it is essential for me to find a position where I am able to work from home entirely. I am susceptible and at significant risk to a Covid infection, so 100% remote is incredibly important to me.

I love contributing to Stack Exchange, it's a great tool for teaching and learning, quite often in the same question!

I have practical and professional experience in C#, SQL (Oracle, MS, MySQL and *Gres), ASP.Net, ASP, C++, PHP, Java, JavaScript/HTML/CSS, XML/XSD/XSLT, Cold fusion, Python and I have also dabbled in purely functional languages, Haskell primarily. I am familiar and comfortable with Git and SVN, some small experience with Mercurial, MSS and CVS. I have heard of Perforce!

I have developed in many different arenas, from Support software to Business operations to Financial services to Demo coding.

To me Software development, and the commitment to it, is as much a lifestyle as a career choice; In my personal experience, the best and most motivated (and sometimes most genius) coders are the ones who've taught themselves as much as anything else; people for whom programming doesn't stop at 5pm in the evening, heck! - people who often don't stop coding until 5am.

In fact, the kind of people who are still on Stack Overflow at 2am when they need to be up for work in 5 hours, because they can't rest until they've solved that problem.

So; I'll try to answer questions when I don't have a confident basis in the subject area, because learning the answer is just as important as understanding the question.

NB: I'm a terrible dyslexic; please be kind!
