comment How can I fix a computer that is infested with malware and is extremely unresponsive?
a remaster of Puppy linux + fprot and/or clamav is a nice tool to keep on your usb stick. The various antivirus solutions all tend to miss a subset others might find and vice versa and it will tend to fluctuate over time, so running 2 different checks is a good idea... (not actual values - just example) 90% detection + 90% detection ~= 99% detection ... and the law of diminishing returns-> 99% detection + 99% detection from ultra-uber-commercial-AV ~= 99.99%

reinstalling windows is practically an annual maintenance item, just normally registry buildup seems to reduce the speed by ~10-20% per year. Just don't do like me and forget your linux live cd in the tray or they will ask "Its way better now, but where the heck is solitaire?"

comment Assigning USB hub to specific seat in multiseat configuration
Hmmm, perhaps add a udev rule or intercept /proc/sys/hotplug with a wrapper to udev or an alternative hotplug system like mdev, diethotplug,hotplug2... A shell script is sufficient

The html form tag... but then you wouldn't really need Outlook at all.

comment Linux boot process
FYI The file structure was based on Rob Landley's aboriginal linux (which is more command line oriented minimalism) but adapted to Puppy's static /dev and some self-adapted multicall binaries and init. Similar distros (usually "floppy") don't exactly explain the process and are missing the key elements.

comment Failure to boot / install Linux
The distros that work appear to be 486/586, so your pc is probably missing the cmov instruction (or other 686 instructions) ... Try puppy, its 486 compatible and the wary version targets older computers.

comment Are there tools to help reduce Excel spreadsheet file sizes?
Depending on the complexity, you can export to tab or comma separated value type and look at it in a text editor. Otherwise you can try Gnumeric, open/libre/k-office etc... I prefer mtcelledit for simple tasks.
