How to make a formerly internal (sata) Windows 7 hdd boot over USB 3.0 If you read the question I said "it looks similar to" and if you read it, you will find that it is not a duplicate - different symptoms, and all answers relating to power profiles. Maybe I made it too easy for @Sathya to dupe this. |

Can you run apps from an XP hdd (now over USB) in Windows 7? This is why having cloud storage of user settings is such a great thing. I can imagine he has something like an bible annotation app he has spent hours on, which will no doubt be a nuisance to port across. Then I need to port his bookmarks, and his graveyard of icons which is his desktop. Thanks for the suggestions. |

Can you run apps from an XP hdd (now over USB) in Windows 7? I won't know if I can mark this as the answer until I give it a go, but thank you for the suggestion. |

Can you run apps from an XP hdd (now over USB) in Windows 7? Part of it will be that, part of it will be that such a task would overwhelm him and I don't have the time to do install all these things. |

Can you run apps from an XP hdd (now over USB) in Windows 7? Thanks, I suspect these beastly technical design apps will make good use of the registry. I suspect I will have to use Microsoft's Disk2VHD app and go down that route! |

Can you run apps from an XP hdd (now over USB) in Windows 7? I have read superuser.com/questions/31521/… I have never used VMWare before, could a similar thing be achieved using Virtualbox? |
