If you need access to this account to register it, use this tool - then register, so you can stop creating new accounts every time.

revised How can I automatically update Flash Player whenever a new version is released?
This was kind of a mess; there's a good question here, and plenty of good prior research, but it was buried kinda deep; attempted to separate the question from the copious amounts of background information, speculation, and frustrated ranting.

comment Text editor for BIG files?
Incidentally, I've solved problems similar to yours by using a stream processor (something like SAX), an efficient in-memory representation of the data (XML DOM is not particularly efficient if you don't necessarily need to store a bunch of strings), and... Multiple, smaller XML files associated with an index file. Oh - and copious amounts of logging in the parser. Might not work for you, but sure as hell beats trying to work with massive XML files in a text editor.

No, @Suzan, it's recognition of ignorance, and of the fact that folks who don't know how to solve a problem will often tend to come up with solutions that are overly complicated, impossible, or otherwise less than ideal. We've all done this, and we've all seen the amount of frustration and wasted time it can lead to... Therefore, it is desirable to spare others when possible.

comment If I buy a computer with Windows 8 and Secure Boot, will I still be able to install Linux?
It's not Microsoft that worries me here, it's the manufacturers. Sure, ARM devices might still be seen as toys now, but the various ARM platforms have come an awful long way in the past few years, and I can easily imagine a day when folks use them for more than just watching YouTube videos... Giving up the ability to update or replace the OS now seems short-sighted. That said, thanks for writing this up - it definitely helps clarify what is, and what isn't problematic about Secure Boot.
