no, the source port will change at every packet.

I don't need to listen UDP packets that arrive to any port. The target ip port is specified, but not the source. This is possible as a normal user, and as a side note I've alredy written a minimal c program that can do it, but I asked because I lost half an hour trying to get nc to do it, and now I want to know if it's totally impossible with common shell utilities.

@LucasKauffman just dump whatever udp packet arrives to a specific port. I cannot use tcpdump as I don't have root privileges on the machine.

comment multiple png images over a single pipe to ffmpeg (no file writes to disk!)
jpeg works, png support has been added 9/5/2012, pbm is broken (ffmpeg.org/trac/ffmpeg/ticket/1321), gif is broken.

@leepfrog with some fiddling, it works! feel free to post the answer. Anyway, there are some quirks, it does not seem to work with piped png images. The program that generates the image is gnuplot, and I had to switch its output to pbm.

@slhck well, that pages shows how to create a pipe in C and stream raw image data. That would be welcome too, if I know a command line program that can do the conversion png->raw image array.

comment Setup a vpn server with a static IP with NAT and port forwarding
does this work with other protocols than TCP? I need to tunnel UDP packets also, and ICMP would be nice too. And I will be dealing with application that aren't designed to use ssh tunnels (one for example pings a list of servers with UDP packets), am I wrong to think that it's easier to trick them with a virtual device and a LD_PRELOAD hack?
