comment Google Docs Slow on Firefox
To be honest I've never found Google Docs to be particularly speedy in any browser. You're not using a netbook perchance? I have a similar issue with any web app when using my Asus EEEPC.

comment Sharing Excel sheet over network?
Tbh, I don't think it will work. A web front-end done in php or some other server-side language, with a smattering of JavaScript and pointing to a database would be a much better solution (providing the skill-set is there of course).

comment What are the advantages of upgrading Internet Explorer if you don't use it?
From a web developer's pov, I don't think anyone benefits from upgrading to IE9. Upgrading something simply for 'security benefits' is getting old. If it is that insecure, as IE must be considering the level of patching, then uninstall it. Thankfully, it can be uninstalled now.

comment How can I limit the amount of USB bandwidth consumed by a single USB port/device?
Hi, what device in particular are you trying to cap? Mobile, router? I am thinking that you might be able to work something from the device end of things instead of the Windows end.

comment What's the best audio format available when I want to convert my files?
Excellent answer. In answer to your question regarding the trade off between quality and disk space, I always find that 128kbps - 320kbps mp3's offer a good balance of sound (for my portable mp3 player) and space for storage on my hdd. I have a lot of music and find 128kbps mp3's an acceptable size. The styles of music I listen to really don't improve all that much with higher bit-rates IMO. Then again there could be something wrong with my hearing, or my music :)

Sorry, I have been away for a few days. I would try rolling back the drivers you installed and updating from the laptop vendor site and not NVidia or not even updating them altogether. Often newer doesn't necessarily mean better in the world of drivers.

Ok good, that means your monitor is probably working fine. I suspect the drivers are at fault, did you get them through Microsoft or NVidia?

comment Which alternative port can I use for RDP?
@billc.cn true but you could still make a password that would take thousands of years to crack but then that should be done with RDP anyway.

comment Swappable hard-drives for laptop
Hmm the only other thing I can think of is buying an Express Card HDD and booting from that but that doesn't make use of the drive you have. At least it would be safe inside the laptop and you wouldn't have to pull the bottom off each time.

@lacqui get one with a Kensington lock slot and buy a double header Kensington lock and lock them both to with the one cable. No more moving your stuff.

I may add, you might like to contact your ISP about this and get a new static ip while you are at it. Also, if you don't need to RDP to that machine, banish the service or maybe try an alternative like VNC.
