comment Why is a router needed?
My preference is, if there's a pause, use a comma.

comment What is the actual speed of SATA 3?
Using "a mere 600MB/s" is pretty misleading. I was thoroughly confused until I remembered it's 6 giga bits. We all know SATA isn't 6 gigabytes per sec, but 6 giga bits per sec

comment How to encrypt all—or part—of a USB hard drive that can be accessed by both Linux and Mac OS X?
@JDługosz Read my comment again. I never mentioned backdoors. I intentionally tried to word it to avoid sounding like I was referencing backdoors, but I guess I failed at that.

comment How to encrypt all—or part—of a USB hard drive that can be accessed by both Linux and Mac OS X?
The audit found many problems with the code base and TrueCrypt itself is don't. Finished. No more. OTOH, many forks of it came out to continue its legacy with a few promising to fix the problems (bugs?)

comment Pinging different IP address than what I entered
Wow. That is a terrible undocumented "feature". Turns out Chrome does it also (4.4.4.8 and 4.4.4.010 are equivalent)

comment PDFs as extremely small file size (i.e. less than 20kb)
Do your PDFs have embedded fonts and color profile? If so, removing those could cut out like 30 KB

comment Is it safe that everybody can see the Windows product ID?
The product Id basically tells the support team what your hardware configuration is.

comment Is it possible to use WiFi routers provided location in PC?
AFAIK, it's not your router that provides the location, it's your IP address. You must be using a shared IP, and because reverse location searches can only have one location, it goes to your ISP's.

comment Do we really need to check the integrity of downloaded files?
If I were to hack a site and replace the file with a malicious one, I think I'd be smart enough to know to change the hash listed.

possible duplicate of Are all versions of Windows case insensitive? (there's probably a better question than that)

@JohnSonderson correct.

comment How do I insert a new row in Excel via the keyboard?
When you say "to insert a row" in option 1, does it go above or below (on mobile, can't check) [should also be mentioned in answer].

comment Why do file URLs start with 3 slashes?
@Pacerier while that would save even more bytes, I wouldn't have recommended that. A single h is not clear on what it means unlike http (which is clear). Also, take ftp and file for example. If we use your idea of using the first letter of the acronym only, they'd both be f. Sure, the stuff after the protocol would remove the ambiguity (is it a file path of web path), but that would be needlessly complex

comment Can a file system's logical structure (including symlink targets) be represented in a single lightweight file (non-binary)?
NOTE: This tree command is the Linux version. The Windows version still only outputs the simple "tree".

comment Downloading software without bloatware
Worth mentioning Windows 10 will come with some kind of package manager outside of the Windows Store.
