If I post something erroneous please tell me so I can fix it and learn from the error.

As a JVM learning exercise I am now trying out an (in my opinion under-used) library for efficiently executing ASTs in Java, with help from the JIT, called Truffle. My progress can be followed at http://hextruffle.wordpress.com.

I can be contacted by email at hexafraction@gmail.com, if one is interested in my work. I'll be glad to help for a fairly low rate in Bitcoin. If I need to sign a message, it will be using the PGP key below, or the Bitcoin address 1EYhYbBKRSM85EaoUbgQmnCwQerQWL99so

My PGP key is:

comment Notepad++: What does “Mac” format do?
@kei On Windows, Git, by default, will normalize line endings for you (commit Unix-style, checkout Windows-style).

comment Why is it not recommended to shut down a computer “brutally” (power switch)?
Why is it that flash drives cannot have such capacitors? Cost?

comment What would be the disadvantages of using a 4 stranded ethernet cable?
Any reason why IPv6 would fail? The cables themselves have no business dealing with OSI layer 2 and above; they only operate at 1. In fact, IPv6 should be agnostic of which ethernet technology is used (possibly even any switched-bus/bus should work)

comment Why is Process Explorer reporting activity in non-existent dedicated GPU memory?
This is a lower-end machine, definitely no extra GPUs there. Device Manager confirms this. The miners are probably just reporting the CPUs as GPus where the Winterpark is a real GPU.

comment Why is Process Explorer reporting activity in non-existent dedicated GPU memory?
@nodakai Not a dupe in my opinion, I'm aware of what Dedicated GPU memory is. The problem is that I'm sure I have none as the spec sheet specifies I have none, and dedicated memory is, by convention, not put into cheaper laptop integrated GPUs. That is why I am asking this question.

comment Secured Directory creation in Linux
@Vijay So the answer is you can't with 100% certainty, without hardware write protection. Say that if asked again.

OK. I still would like to know about the command's dangers.

comment Why is “hdparm -w” considered dangerous?
@DevSolar It's an old drive being mounted as /tmp and I am too cheap to get a drive right now...

It has very much to do with drivers as Chrome may use OpenGL and hardware acceleration.

Everybody addresses the hard disk, but nobody speaks of the SSD :-)

comment How do I troubleshoot hardware issues related to a computer freeze/crash?
Nice, but you should refer to memory testing utilities, which can diagnose DRAM hardware issues from software, without special hardware. One such utility is memtest86+(bundled with many Linux distros).
