Shame you felt the need to downvote my answer then!

comment Exclude files or folders from System Restore
Thanks for the info Steve, very useful +1. The whole file structure of Windows is a mess with config data scattered in a dozen different locations. Of course, I should also have added to my answer that relying on a disk is a recipe for disaster as it WILL fail eventually. Backups are always necessary - at least 1 copy on a separate disk or system locally and 1 copy remotely.

You should be fine - do you have a library somewhere near where you could borrow a power meter? That'll show you for sure.

comment Synchronizing e-mail using one IMAP and one POP client
IMAP doesn't actually REQUIRE that, it is simply the normal operation. Nothing stops you removing the emails whenever you like.

Why does needing to run often block the use of software? Do you mean that it will be run on lots of computers? I also assume this is Windows?

It seems that the combination of full moon and sunspots is causing a downvote-fest. Can downvoters please add comments as to why otherwise people can never improve their answers.

I suspect that @techie007's edit has put it on a better footing. It is when people ask for recommendations for software that they get kicked out. Thanks for the +1, hopefully the rewrite will prompt the original downvoter to change their mind.

A chance, not a big one, actually a pretty small one - still not wise to mess with electricity. Actually since we now know that you are in the UK, we also know that there should be another fuse in the lead to the PSU as this is required in the UK as is having an earthed lead.

I would say that your PSU is marginal, most PSU's, especially cheap ones do not actually cope well with maximum power draw. If you still have a working library close by, you may be able to borrow a power monitor from them as they were made available to all Libraries - at least in England.

comment What is the purpose of a 2.1 amp charger if USB 2.0 can only draw 500mA
Also worth noting that Windows 8.1 enforces that limit. Older versions of Windows did not. This means that some non-compliant (but useful) hardware no longer works on W8.1

Do you mean that your VBA macro's are disappearing? What happens if you make a change to the ribbon - is that saved?

Assuming the circuit breaker works correctly. I'm just trying to point out that you take liberties with electricity at a high risk.

Note to people marking down: Please add comments so that everyone can improve. Marking down without comments just puts people off using SU.

You must check the rating for the power strip. This is how house fires start so don't take risks! Plug the PC into a wall socket by preference unless the strip is rated correctly. It can be a double socket as both should be rated fine.

Interesting use case. That hadn't occurred to me, I must admit.

Just make sure that the "Page Range" in the Print dialogue is set to "Selection" rather than "All". I've just tested it in ON2010, couldn't do that last night.
