comment How can I convert an m4v video to a widely viewable format using ffmpeg?
+1. As my mac did not accept h264, I did: ffmpeg -i in.m4v -strict experimental -acodec aac -vcodec libx264 out.avi, hopefully it is the same

@techie007 would you mind writing your suggestion as an answer so I can accept it?

@techie007 overnight. The times it has bothered me the most it has been running an experiment at 100% cpu and it just goes to sleep. That Sleep/Hibernate option does not have never as an option. It goes up to 100000 minutes. I'm going to try that overnight.

comment Vim plugin presenting a list of open tabs
@Andrei, yes I think it is mostly historical. Through the years much of the functionality of the buffers has been used and tested. The tabs seem to me like a misnomer, therefore users initially expect something like Firefox or TextMate tabs and Vim's tabs are not well suited for this.

comment Software for “relationship graphs”
I would try with the circo or twopi programs that come with GraphViz as well, and try to see if those layouts are closer to what you want.
