Since "fixing" the PC by removing a faulty cable it has got worse. It now just says "Scanning BIOS Image in Hard Drive ...". I'm going to try a CMOS reset today, fingers crossed it works ....

comment What's a good computer and software for a media PC?
it also has a multi-seat option. my setup has a tv server with a couple of (soon to be added to) clients. All recording is done on the server, so any client PC can use the TV guide and set recordings up on the server. I very rarely watch live TV anymore, I just go straight to "Recorded TV"

Also, I am using my amp in conjunction with a HDMI splitter so I can view any source on either my TV or projector. Oh, and the amp up-scales analog sources to HDMI too. I was really looking for some way to lock the refresh rate of the PC to 1920x1080@25Hz, as my projector can handle that. But my TV cannot handle anything else!

I used to do just that, and had exactly the same problem. It would still default to the wrong refresh rate.

yes, i reseated the graphics card and memory, which is everything in there. I've checked all the SATA connectors too. The really odd thing is that I'm actually using it now. It just seems to "catch" and fire up without me really doing anything! Once it is running it's fine, I just left it powered up for 3 days last week and it was fine. I don't think it's the power supply, it's a 750W thing. It's not been a problem until this last week, and nothing has changed :S

it's not a clear beep, as when it does boot I hear one clear beep which means all is well.
