comment Excel, one cell takes a value from another but want to subtract from another cell
An even simpler way is =L27-N(L8). The N function returns 0 for a blank cell or the number for a nonblank cell.

I'm not sure if it's better than FreeArc, but I've had success with 7-Zip. 7-zip.org

comment Error: The Macro May Not Be Available In This Workbook Or All Macros May Be Disabled
When you first right click on the button and choose Assign Macro, if you look at the "Macro name" text box, it should show you what macro is currently assigned to the button.

@fixer1234 Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I have added a link to that page on the Internet Archive.

comment How to add colored triangles to the corner(s) of a cell?
I don't think there is a way to do this. Excel reserves the red and green triangles as special indicators and I don't think you can override them.

comment Excel - how to drag down formula while keeping horizontal cell reference continuity
@Tanukiarecool You can replace the A2 with ROW()-1. This means that the row number that the formula is in will be used as the offset (after subtracting 1 from it).

comment Excel - how to drag down formula while keeping horizontal cell reference continuity
@Tanukiarecool You're welcome! I see that you asked about inserting new columns. When you insert a column, if you change the $A$1 in the formula to always point to the cell directly to the left of the first column heading, it will continue to work.

comment Excel drop down list to change data table
I see that you added information about what the matrices look like, but where are they located? Is each one on a separate sheet, or are they on the same sheet?

comment Excel drop down list to change data table
You need to be more specific about the layout of your spreadsheet. Where are the matricies? Where are the scenarios? A screenshot would be helpful. Please edit your original question with additional details.

@Poolio You could take a screenshot using the Snipping Tool in Windows 7 or higher, and then upload it to an image-sharing website such as imgur.com.

comment Excel 07: Sum Cells of Column B By Date in Column A And Report To Cell C
@Dane I wasn't sure where the actual date criteria are located (corresponding to column D in my screenshot), so that's why I instead provided a simple example that can be applied to any situation rather than writing a formula to accommodate this one specific situation.

This sums it up pretty well. I guess I'll have to use a helper formula in another cell. Thanks.

comment Excel number format to convert number of month to name of month
Thanks, but I would like to be able to do this via a number format directly applied to the cell (applied via Format Cells > Number > Custom).

comment Excel number format to convert number of month to name of month
No, mmm doesn't accomplish what I am trying to do because it interprets the cell value as a date serial number, and returns Jan for all numbers 1-12 (Serial number 1 corresponding to date 1/1/1900 and 2 to 1/2/1900, etc.)
