comment How to uninstall a Windows Update that seems invisible after installation
that's the thing: none of the downloads had the System file attribute set. If memory serves me well, the PSWindowsUpdate and SpeedFan downloads were not affected, but the unzipped UltraDefrag one was in part. Some day I will research this further, but I had only limit time to get that system back to its owner.

I opted for this on the affected machine as very little was changed/installed afterwards. The System Restore will not only undo changes to the operating system, but also remove some (but not all, I've not figured a pattern yet) executables downloaded in the users Downloads directory.

@DavidPostill can you make that an answer, as I resorted to it and it does solve the problem (though it also undoes about everything you did after it, including non-install related things like executable downloads).

@DavidPostill I was hoping to prevent that. But I might revert to just that. (And thanks for the edit)

comment How to print screen in Remote Desktop Client (RDS) on Mac OS X?
This is the only way I could get this to work from my Retina MacBook Pro using Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.0.x to Windows 7/8/Vista/XP sessions. It even works with Alt + PrtSc to take a snapshot of the current window.
