comment SSH from public network?
Since none of the answers here address this directly: SSH stands for Secure Shell, and it encrypts everything by default. So as long as the client (i.e. the machine) isn't compromised it should be good.

comment How to automatically add bookmarks to Google Chrome?
Can confirm that this (still) works today. All you have to do is export the bookmarks, edit the resulting html file so it only contains the new bookmarks you want to add, and import it back. The new bookmarks will then show up in a folder called "Imported" in the Bookmarks Manager, which you can then freely move wherever.

comment Hibernating in Windows 7 (64 bit) will always crash after prolonged use, any way around it?
@PareshkumarChaudhari it was a faulty hard drive problem in my case, I ran several tests with SeaTools for Windows and in less than an hour the results came back with faulty sectors. I replaced the hdd and haven't seen issues hibernating for long periods of time since then.

comment Why can't Chrome load a web page? ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED
Did you solve it, and if yes, how? I'm seeing the same problem, I suspect the DNS is not propagating properly.

comment Skype profile picture is too blurry
Didn't fix it for me. Looks like this is a bug on Microsoft's side judging by this thread: community.skype.com/t5/Modern-Windows-from-Windows/…

comment USB 3.0 randomly disconnecting and reconnecting
This worked for me. Why did the OS figured it was a good idea to turn off an USB 3 HDD while in the middle of copying gigabytes of data in order to save power is completely beyond me, though.

comment How can I make notepad++ remember all instances of itself from last session?
Not exactly the "plug and play" I wish it were (multiple instances have to be saved manually, auto-load can only remember one window), but still an improvement over nothing, thank you internet stranger :)

@Chris I see, okay, thank you for replying either way. Guess I'll have to look for a replacement.

comment Windows 7 random freezes
@Chris, did you ever find what was the culprit? I'm dealing with a very similar issue and it's driving me insane.

comment How do I stop ssh-agent from forgetting my password after I login to the screen session from SSH?
I'm not a fan of bloating machines installing packages for everything, so I was a bit hesitant about giving keychain a go, but I have to admit I'm happy I made an exception here: keychain does a pretty damn good job at what it does, and it's super easy to set up.

comment How can I bring back the old menu style on Chrome 28 onwards, now that the --disable-new-menu-style switch has been removed?
Do we know whether the style of the menu is hardcoded in Chromium? If only we could edit some custom CSS to change the padding that'd work too.

comment How can I bring back the old menu style on Chrome 28 onwards, now that the --disable-new-menu-style switch has been removed?
I've been using it for a while, the problem is that this switch no longer works in the latest version of Chrome, hence my question.

comment How to revert Google Chrome context menu back to Windows style
I can also confirm that as of Chrome 28 this workaround no longer works. Damn, I really can't get used to that padding.

comment Disabling cache selectively for development on Chrome
This could work, but I was hoping I could find a solution that doesn't involve changing the server configuration for the sake of making it easy switching back and forth between cached/partially cached/uncached, much like one can enable or disable the cache on the chrome dev tools.

comment Phantom clicks on Windows 7, what could be causing it?
Well, this is embarrasing, I should've thought of this from the very beginning instead of assuming it was a software issue. Too much time on the software side of things I guess :-)

If I may suggest: use keepass + dropbox instead.

comment Is there an effective tab manager for Google Chrome?
You would be surprised how fast does the windows (7) taskbar clutter while working on a large project, even if the windows are grouped by application. If I could show/hide chrome windows on demand I suppose that could also work.
