comment Can I disable OS X Lion Autosave and Versions?
This must be new in Mountain Lion, yes? I'll give it a shot. Any idea how this will interact if I've already done the terminal commands in the accepted answer?

@user142040 If I remember to try this when I have a working machine (hopefully soon), I will and will report back. I like this idea. I hope it doesn't break the machine.... (consequently any reports from those who have tried it and encountered problems would be appreciated).

comment Forcing Lion Finder to open in List View?
What if the application dialog defaults to that view but I didn't actually change it? E.g. to the best of my knowledge there's no way for Chrome to prompt for a download location without opening a column view dialog....?

comment Forcing Lion Finder to open in List View?
I tried this and it worked at first, but shortly thereafter some folders reverted to column view. I wonder if this has to do with selectors in application dialogs (e.g. download, print-to-pdf) defaulting to column view and changing the folder view setting?
