comment Why can't I pull up the taskbar when Chrome is maximized?
That bug is for full-screen and the question is about 'maximized' mode, so the correct issue is #373194 here code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=373194 and it is not resolved for everyone.

Yes, the problem does not occur in windows 8 mode, but that mode has its problems too, and the question was specifically about 'desktop' mode.

The accepted answer pointed me in the right direction, but its syntax is not valid - see my answer for the correct syntax.

The above example doesn't work for me. It says that "^{Up}::{PgUp}" is an invalid hotkey. I'm using Win Vista.

comment Auto-hide taskbar in Chrome
I downvoted because this did not fix the problem for me (win7, 32bit). Also, I don't think the other solutions are good, because they depend on the keyboard. Based on track record I doubt Google will ever fix this - only solution I could come up with is good old Firefox!

comment Firefox option to paste plain text into HTML inputs, similar to paste special?
Firefox should add support for Ctrl-Shift-V (or equivelent on Mac & Linux). This functionality and key combination are widely supported.

comment Does it make sense to keep different SSIDs for 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless networks?
Yes, 5GHz tends to be faster, but 2.4GHz has better range. If you use the same SSID then your client can automatically switch from 5 to 2.4 when it gets too far from the AP. The same thing can be achieved with different names, but then you have to configure both.

comment How to set the same static IP address for LAN and wifi interfaces on a Win7 laptop?
I would say that there is no good way to switch 'seamlessly' between wifi and ethernet, where seamlessly means that you maintain your network connections. In theory, you could play all sorts of tricks, e.g. even overriding the wifi mac to make it the same as the eth mac, but I just think that will be more pain then it is worth.

comment Can I get rid of the status bar at the bottom of Eclipse?
Oh, OK, thanks. That's the plug-in referred to in the answer below (GitHub Eclipse full-screen), I believe. I'll try that one too.
