comment Tracking down rogue terminal windows in OS X
Check you preferences. I'm showing there are options in there for tmux integration as well as options for closing out sessions on exiting a terminal.

Likewise Open is the route to go, but keep in mind the name of the software has changed. It's now under the name PowerBroker Open.

I work for a company that does a lot of label printing and those Spyders have been very helpful to my users there. It's well worth their cost.

comment Ethernet over powerline adapters - how far will the data travel?
This is not true, it's dependent on phases, which means in theory, your neighbor could pick up your information.

comment Replace a laptop hard drive (Ubuntu and Windows 7 installed)
@Gaurav Agarwal I would go this route as this is your best option. dd is an excellent utility that is geared for your situation. The only thing I would add to this is to use a gParted LiveCD to use dd to mirror the drive, then use gParted that's on the LiveCD to expand your partitions accordingly.

comment Does cloning clone also the old MAC address?
Everything is a file to a certain point. All that concept means is that it is possible to access any object or device as a file, but that doesn't mean it inherently will carry over. Network cards are hard coded with said MAC address, but if you do override them, then yes, your MAC address will be the same on the other machines, but that simply means removing the overrides you made on the other machines.

comment How to connect to Windows remote domain from Linux know its gateway hostname?
What's the FQDN for the machine? Obviously it's not just hostname.local. I assume Windows accounts for the network you're already connecting from to likely complete that.

comment Install a driver in Windows (XP) from command line?
I'm not 100% positive if XP support is still present in its most recent version, but if it is, that is a viable option as well. Considering DevCon was built for earlier systems pre-Vista, I'd stick with DevCon.

comment Weird HDD Slowdown Issue
A section of the drive very well might be damaged, have you attempted to run any diagnostics using the manufacturer's diagnostic software? The other possibility is the cache on one of those drives is smaller so there is a bottleneck in how much data it can write to the drive any given time.

This appears to be a duplicate question which shows legitimate answers that were never confirmed by the user on the other question but appear to be what the OP is asking for. Since the answer was never verified, I am unable to flag this as a duplicate.
