Agreed this is the answer. I notice in XFCE4 on Ubuntu 14.04 that little edge of the toolbar that shows when it is folded up would create an odd blur in that area of the screen. This removes it completely and fixed my small issue as well.

Worked for me as well with a Logitech G700 setup with Logitech Gaming Software. Using Ubuntu 14.04. Added the above lines as noted and worked immediately.

Okay I fixed it... Go to chrome://plugins and I disabled the flash plugin, restarted browser, enabled flash plugin, restart browser, audio appears to be working.
