comment Deny application access to hard drive or volume in Windows 7+
Have you considered running Reader as a separate user which doesn't have access to those volumes?

comment How can I detect the amount of memory slots I have?
It shows a misleading "Row 0" and "Row 2" suggesting there's at least a Row 1 which would lead 4 slots, but I know there are only two.

comment What's the code page of UTF-8?
@Synetech don't worry, the display is wrong, the characters are correct. cd ű is displayed at cd ?, but it still goes into the correct directory.

comment How do I change the color scheme of Windows command prompt?
Never mind: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Console\ColorTable00-15 for defaults overall the system, and the subkeys contain overrides for specific applications with their absolute image path (\ replaced with _).

comment How do I change the color scheme of Windows command prompt?
Holy cow, that works :) And the change is immediate after OK/Apply. (Note: again, using ansicon, didn't test with .NET!) The process is: set all colors using the RGB and then re-set text/background to what you want, apply and behold. BTW, you color set looks a bittle one-sided ;)

comment Windows Firewall: Logging/Notifying on outgoing request attempts
I suggest to take a look at Sysinternals' (technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/default) Procmon or Procexp, or other; it was a long time ago I actually used, but it helps determining which low-level op takes a long time, and you can filter the IP. Also you may try Wireshark or alike to determine the process making the traffic.

comment How do I fix my colour bash prompt wrapping?
Chris R: I tried your prompt and just replacing all '\[[ with '\[\e[ worked in bash on Ubuntu 12.04. Escaping colors (and some other irrelevant-to-prompt-size parts) with \[...\] helped me too, but I have much-much-much more complex PS1 than you (with right aligned text on the same line as prompt and text in the lower right corner). It fixed both the early wrapping and the overlapping wrapping problems.
