comment Painful hand positioning on a laptop
@Moab Only have one pair, and somehow the touchpad has interference with them on top and sometimes reads double taps out of nowhere. It doesn't happen with cotton based gloves it seems, I'll try to get a pair of cotton gloves without fingers. Still that has the heat problem in the summer.

@Linef4ult That would be the extreme solution, and its aesthetically unpleasant to have. Besides that I already have half of my hand with such things from bicycle riding, but not that specific part and would prefer not to have it.

@LPChip It is just related with this particular setup. I have no problem on using a desktop, it is as comfortable as it can be.

@retrography That wouldn't work for a laptop on a stand. It would fall, and besides that, the touchpad is way too big and pressuring the touchpad anywhere counts as a click.

Whatever solution you find, nothing over network will beat a cheap 3€/$ adapter off ebay. Think if your time is worth the hassle. If not grab one adapter, otherwise proceeded to network based solutions.

In the long term i might buy a decent external keyboard (I have one, but its so bad I think I prefer the pain), but the problem with that is the lost space. Also I use 8px font for my WM, that would also at need a bump to 12-14px if the laptop gets 30cm further away. Is there any cheap home made solution? Some kind of wrist cushion or anything like that?

It would be useful if you said the OS you're using. Can't you simply plug the desktop monitor into the laptop? Or you want them to work simultaneously and want the mouse to interact with both, being able to reach the desktop from the laptop?

comment SD card write protection
Your phone takes the MicroSD directly without SD adapter, correct? (just in case). Im almost sure that the adapter is to blame for the write protection since MicroSD cards have no write protection tab. Probably some error happened in the phone, and then you're having trouble with the adapter.

comment How can I understand what happens to my laptop?
@ThomasWeinbrenner Note that according to him, it was a minor change. It probably was just a matter of packaging. I'm not into Ubuntu, but usually in the kernel the third digit is meant for bugfixes, and the forth for packaging. Probably redoing the nvidia kernel module would solve, but I have no idea on how to do it in Ubuntu, so uninstalling (going back to Nouveau) and install the blob again should solve.

Try to change to Nouveau (the opensource driver, present by default), and reboot. If it appears to work fine (except 3D acceleration), then it is related to the Nvidia proprietary BLOB. In that case just make sure to get the latest version of the proprietary driver. Please note: Don't try Nouveau if you have a series 900 GPU or a 750.

comment SSH :connect to host localhost port 22: Connection refused
Do you mind trying with a non-root user and telling what happens? Also is your sshd file just those lines? Try to add: "PermitRootLogin yes"
