comment How can I block Facebook (or any site) permanently, and/or almost-permanently?
Your comment is wrong on so many levels. 1) Being able to edit hosts file != running as admin. It can be granted temporarily. Secondly, saving an admin password digitally is not bad practice (doing it unencrypted however is). Also, you can't call up your ISP and ask them to block sites. Christ...

"it's a work machine" -- you should probably be honest and turn it in, trying to fix it yourself is not a good idea and may break company policy.

comment Paranoid Parent: “WiFi safe for baby?”
@Spiff the whole point of the chart is the small dot below the group of blue squares: "cell phone's transmitter does not produce ionizing radiation and does not cause cancer". The same applies for Wi-fi, although this could have been explained better. I.e. the chart tells you that sleeping next to someone causes more cancer than mobile phones (and wi-fi).

comment Why does writing IP addresses this alternate way work, and is there a practical use case for it?
All right, so typing 0.0.3.255 is just another way of typing 3 * 256 + 255, and the fact that we type IP-addresses the way we do is just "canonical", it could be written any way we want really?

Why is the folder structure even relevant? Isn't all you ever need a kdbx (or kdb I guess) file?

Can you verify that the md5 hashes of the files are in fact different? Also, please give examples of what kinds of files they are, file names and where they are downloaded from, and what leads you to believe they are different.
