comment How can I assemble a Laptop from parts
@Ramhound - Why is it that some laptop parts aren't sold to consumers directly. Is it because OEMs don't want consumers to assemble themselves and hence put such regulations? Or there isn't any market for individual parts to begin with?

"With a thirst for challenge and a $1,400 budget..." - That sounds like it would be costlier than getting it straight from the OEMs, not very encouraging!

comment When putting two identical files in a .zip, they take 2x space, can this be avoided
@anrieff - Rather than auto-copy the baz.dll to bar/ directory, why don't you copy it to a common directory (such as C:\Windows) and shell invoke the registration utility (regasm in case of .NET DLL, regsvr32 in case of ActiveX DLL) to register it. Then, both your .exes will work fine.

comment Seamlessly transition from wired to wireless in Linux
In your linux terminal, run this command: modinfo <your-wifi-driver> | grep ‘depend’. If the output includes mac80211, it means infrastructure mode is supported and hostapd should work.

I agree with @Vesper. This can possibly happen when the host file is edited. To confirm it, just open this file in notepad and check for host entires for the sites you are having issues with: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
