Why was this question closed ??? Try DraftSight en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DraftSight , it's free (for non-commercial purposes) but not opensource. Dassault has an interesting piece of software there - supports export to SVG ! Download: 3ds.com/products-services/draftsight/overview

comment How to open pdf in Chrome's integrated viewer without downloading it
Yep, content-disposition inline ain't enough, it also needs mime application/pdf.

comment How do I get the day name into a cell in Excel?
Moreover, only working with the English Version of Excel. German Version is Text(WOCHENTAG(A1); "tttt"). While Text is the same, and weekday gets translated automagically, note the "tttt" instead of "dddd", which does NOT get translated automagically.

comment Can Chrome browser history be exported to an HTML file?
Actually, that doesn't really work, because the history is iframed and paged, so you only get a tiny little bit of your browsing history.

comment Windows 7 / 8 tool for amplifying sound / equivalent to pavucontrol?
Installed Sound Booster, first thing: amplification by 500%, doesn't make sense. If I go anything above 100%, the quality becomes miserable. If it's on, the browser frequently crashes, if it's off, it never crashes... Definitely a no-go.

comment Is it safe to put a Mac directly on the internet?
@sidran32: I disagree. A router needs an operating system, and it's only going to be as secure as the operating system, the weakest link. And if that OS was WindowsCE, then I'd rather not put a router in between. In that sense, the "always better" was probably the reason.

@Karan: It hasn't. This is a software thing entirely.

comment Windows 8 ISO image to USB stick?
It halfway works. If you want to create a 64 bit bootable stick on a 32 bit operating system, then you need to copy over a working copy of bootsect.exe into the install directory. Typically Microsoft... Can't even create a working USB-Bootloading tool...

@Raystafarian: Didn't have a free computer 'till today afternoon, so there was no point in trying.

comment Windows 8 ISO image to USB stick?
Just copy the files over ? You mean the ISO image file, or it's content files ? What about the boot sector part ? Is the "make active" not necessary anymore with NTFS ?

comment Linux for 128 MB of memory
Well, basically you have to remove the gui, and then you can use mplayer on the command line at lightening-speed. :)) apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras. Maybe the debian netinstall iso would be more appropriate, just there it's more of a pain to get the multimdedia working.

Note that Safari is not any better than IE6 when it comes to security. Well actually, Safari is worse...

Well, I certainly wouldn't. But then, I'm not a Mac user either.

comment Oracle licensing /pricing?
One more license that's no more than a disclaimer & an empty threat against pirating, but unlike others, it's clear and precise. I admit, I've made it a bad habit to not usually read them anymore. Silly silly, they reserve the right to investigate the use of the database - wonder how they want to legally do that - short of a legally obtained search warrant.

Note that you can omit user@ from user@ip if the user on the target machine corresponds to the user you're currently logged in with on the development machine.

I would mount the production server's file system as ssh file system.
