comment Do any one way encryption schemes exist?
@Rup, the decryption would always be an issue, because you would need to trust the client when it comes to decypt. I think a solution could be an open source client for decrypting files. Unfortunately if the NSA gives them a gag order they cannot reassure me...

@DavidSchwartz, Yes that is what I mean, does this mean that the cloud service would have to natively support RSA based encryption of files? This is not possible with their AES implementation?

comment Do any one way encryption schemes exist?
@Rup, so if one of these secure cloud storage entities allowed for encryption via RSA, I could provide a key that can never be used to decrypt the files?

comment How safe is my private DokuWiki hosted on a web server?
Thanks Darius, Yeah if the large companies are being attacked and even source code now being stolen, what chance do I have being a novice at website security? If someone did target me then I have no chance. I will leave the question open for a while in case anyone has some answers as I am still interested in how secure this stuff really is. But for now I am taking your advice and moving offline.

Yeah I think you are right, I just liked the convenience of having it online and just a login away from editing. I guess if its not local it's going to be compromised at some point isn't it?
