@MenelaosPerdikeas if you had any crash it can be a clue. I'm not sure but the log seems normal. Does the "was not an MTP device" appear on system B also? What message appears when you connect other USB drive (for example flashdrive) on both systems. You can try to run gparted and select the drive under it. Don't change anything. It just often popups with the message if there is any partition or other drive problem.

Unless you already had try different USB ports and cables on system the A. HDD is USB 3.0 or 2.0 compatible? Check on both systems what compatibility mode is set in BIOS for USB controller. You can check if there is no USB driver issue, but if other devices are connecting fine on system A it's less likely to be the reason.
