comment Upgraded Computer, Now It Turns Off Randomly/Won't Turn On
Have you tried going back to your original RAM setup? A faulty RAM stick can cause the issue you're describing. The same goes for the PSU. Also, try checking your Event Viewer logs; they can provide important clues.

comment Mac OS X (Mavericks) - how to wake from screensaver by just moving mouse?
Thanks for the reply. So it is no longer possible to wake up the computer using just the mouse/trackpad in Mavericks?

Thanks for the answer, but that didn't work. I already have that option set.

comment changed IP on one computer, other computers not picking up new address
The DHCP server is part of the router. The computer whose IP address I changed is running Windows XP, and so is the laptop that was able to pick up the new address. The other computers are running Windows 7 and Mac OS X.

comment Windows text file appears corrupted on Ubuntu after USB transfer
Strange, I made a few changes to the Python file, and it no longer appears as gibberish. Maybe a sector on the thumb drive was corrupted in a way such that it was only unreadable on Ubuntu. Who knows?

comment Windows 7 Group Policy blocking Adobe Reader
Well, I got it to work. Apparently, a few restarts solved the problem (I don't know why it didn't work earlier, though).

comment Windows 7 Group Policy blocking Adobe Reader
It's a tricky situation. Normally, we would just have IT come over. But due to the confidential nature of our work, we aren't really supposed to let other groups into our labs, and IT is no exception. As such, they can only give instructions. Considering that the computer is no longer on the corporate network, they can't really use Remote Desktop either. I guess we could take the computer to IT, but it's kind of a hassle as it's a desktop. For the record, here's the message: "This program is blocked by group policy. For more information, contact your system administrator."

comment IE9 - “Search in the address bar” keeps disabling itself
Yeah, I had a feeling that it was related to Group Policy, although I couldn't verify it. I did, however, check the registry editor, and there was no "Internet Explorer" listing under "Policies" for either path. Strange.
