@JonathonReinhart yes... can you include that in your answer so I can accept it to help the future reader with the same problem?

@Eric and readers, after researching about that new-found error message I found this solved my problem: askubuntu.com/a/186931 . Thanks all.

comment Why is Google Chrome console uninformative when displaying arrays?
I'm complaining it overshadows the actual data. I expected just [[1,1],[1,1]].

comment What does one use to make formatted documents (such as articles, papers, slides, etc) without Office & such?
But I'm not asking for specific software, I'm asking for the kind of software I need, ie, "What do I use to access sites? A: browsers" instead of "What is the best browser out there?"

Why do you think that?

o7.no/1122evL and what a surprise, it's the second result on Google! So whenever someone googles for directory diff, it'll get it's answer on the question you closed. So it's actually the way the programming community, as a whole, solves this specific problem today. Indeed, so good you arrived late, isn't it?

@slhck do you understand the concept that maybe I do not know a creative solution that someone has developed and if I just kept asking for random specifics such as "how to rearrange OSX windows via keyboard", I could end up with an entirely workflow based on ideas that were solved best by someone? Do you understand the concept of sharing experiences? Have you ever browsed the top questions and analyzed what kind of questions gave space to the best answers SO had? Well, I did. Do it. Your analyze of the situation is horrible, with all due respect.

@slhck you have no idea what you are talking about. It's not specific to an operating system because I'm asking what operating system and software combinations best fit this idea, and this question already has a pretty good answer.

@SeanD I rephrased it.

@slhck here we go again, you guys don't learn. This is a perfectly answerable question and could attract some good tips and advice from someone who is interested on the matter and is probably waiting for a chance to share his experiences. It hasn't been asked for long and is relevant. Just give it time.

@GKoe That's a great suggestion.

comment Is there an OSX application to sync a folder on your computer to a folder over FTP?
@GKoe I've tried, it's slow, I need something that uploads files that are changed locally, without trying to sync the opposite direction.

@GKoe I've stated I've already looked that kind of solution and it didn't work.

comment Should you disable SSH login with root on your server?
I still don't get it. If someone exploited a security flaw to get the root password, he would be still able to use root by calling sudo from any user, so disabling root doesn't do anything on this case.
